IND vs SL Dream11 Prediction: 3 players you can pick as captain or vice-captain for today’s Women's T20 World Cup 2024 match – October 9, 2024

India will take on Sri Lanka in a crunch Group A clash in the ICC Women's T20I World Cup 2024 on Wednesday, October 9. The Dubai International Cricket Stadium will host the clash.

India returned to winning ways on Sunday, October 6, beating Pakistan by six wickets, and moving to fourth in their group. They'll want to win this match by as big a margin as possible to give themselves a net run rate (NRR) boost and much-needed confidence before they take on Australia in a match that could decide their fate in this competition.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, were well-beaten by Australia in their last encounter, and sit last on the Group A points table. They'll want to come back strong in this encounter and will draw strength from their recent Asia Cup Final win against India.

On that note, let's look at the top three Dream11 captaincy picks from this fixture.

#3 Shreyanka Patil (BOWL - IND)

Off-spinner and bowling all-rounder Shreyanka Patil was one of India's best bowlers against Pakistan, alongside pacer Arundhati Reddy. The 22-year-old spinner finished with figures of 2/12 in four overs including the big wicket of Muneeba Ali.

Shreyanka bowled one over each in the powerplay and at the death, further increasing her chances of picking up wickets. She's a bonafide wicket-taker with 18 wickets in 14 T20Is.

Given how the Sri Lankan batters have struggled at this World Cup, expect Shreyanka to make merry of that fact in this fixture, picking up another big Dream11 points haul.

#2 Deepti Sharma (ALL - IND)

Deepti Sharma seems to be slowly returning to form in this World Cup but India would need her to be at her absolute best as they aim to undo the damage done by their massive defeat to New Zealand in the opening fixture and find a way to qualify for the semi-finals.

Deepti bowled a tight spell of 1/24 in four overs against Pakistan, with two in the powerplay and one at the death. She also scored a few handy runs with the bat. Given that she's one of the highest-ranked bowlers in the world right now, she's very likely to haul big in this match after not being that effective in the first two games.

She remains a strong Dream11 captaincy option.

#1 Chamari Athapaththu (ALL - SL)

Chamari Athapaththu should be at her best if Sri Lanka harbors any hopes of getting the better of India once more as they did in the Asia Cup final in July. The Sri Lankan captain had a great outing with the ball against Pakistan, picking up three wickets, but since then, not much has gone well for her or Sri Lanka.

They were condemned to a crushing six-wicket defeat by Australia, and with two losses in two, they're very close to being officially eliminated from contention for the knockout stages.

However, Chamari loves playing India and has scored 434 runs against the Women in Blue, averaging a solid 31.0, at a strike rate of 111.3. She has also picked up eight wickets against them. On what should be a better batting surface, expect her to deliver with both bat and ball, rewarding her Dream11 backers.
