JSK vs MICT Dream11 Prediction: 3 players you can pick as captain or vice-captain for today’s SA20 match – January 11, 2025
The Joburg Super Kings (JSK) and MI Cape Town (MICT) face off in the 4th match of the third edition of the SA20 on Saturday, January 11, at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
This fixture between the Super Kings and MI is fondly known as the 'El Clasico' in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the two teams have been well-matched in the SA20 as well. Their head-to-head record sees the two teams winning two games apiece.
This is the first match of the season for JSK, with Faf du Plessis captaining the side. They've made the playoffs in both editions of the tournament, getting knocked out in the second semi-final on both occasions.
Meanwhile, MICT got their campaign off to a great start as they steamrolled defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape, winning by 97 runs in the tournament opener, courtesy a five-wicket-haul from pacer Delano Potgieter.
This fixture should be a memorable one and on that note, let's look at the top three Dream11 captaincy picks.
#3 Delano Potgieter (ALL) (MICT)
While this may seem like a kneejerk decision after his terrific five-wicket haul in the season opener against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Potgieter definitely has a case to be considered for Dream11 captaincy.
For one, his pyrotechnics with the bat were on view for everyone to see, and he could well get a promotion up the batting order in tonight's match where he can potentially score a few useful runs. Also, on a seamer-friendly venue like the Wanderers, someone bowling with such good pace and rhythm like Potgieter always stands a chance to pick up wickets.
A bowler in fine form coming into the game on the back of a five-wicket haul is unlikely to have a poor outing. Even if he doesn't quite replicate the success of the previous match, Potgieter definitely has what it takes to affect this match and should be considered as a captaincy pick.
#2 Matheesha Pathirana (BOWL) (JSK)
Despite not being in the best of form coming into this fixture, Joburg Super Kings' Wildcard pick Matheesha Pathirana could be one of the highest point-scoring Dream11 assets in this fixture.
A bowler who's always among the wickets regardless of which stage of the game he bowls, Pathirana's unique skillset and bowling action make him a deadly weapon for any captain to possess. With 109 wickets in only 73 T20s at a solid bowling average of 18.06, it's clear that Pathirana is a bonafide wicket-taker.
The pace and bounce at the Wanderers should make Pathirana harder to negotiate for the MICT batters, and he's definitely a solid Dream11 captaincy pick on paper.
#1 Faf du Plessis (JSK) (BAT)
The Joburg Super Kings' captain and opener Faf du Plessis is easily one of the best Dream11 captaincy picks going into this one. While he's part of a power-packed top four that includes Jonny Bairstow and former Chennai Super Kings opening partner Devon Conway, none of those players can match du Plessis' run-scoring prowess in South Africa, particularly at this ground.
Faf loves batting at the Wanderers and has scored 266 runs at an average of 66.5 in T20Is, and 553 runs in 15 T20s, averaging a solid 42.5. While he went through a lean patch last season, his form overall has been quite good.
This venue has the potential to be a batting paradise, and in such matches, du Plessis very rarely misses out. He's definitely a terrific captaincy pick in this fixture.
