Match 23 of MSL 2019 pits Nelson Mandela Bay Giants against the Tshwane Spartans in what promises to be a crucial clash in Port Elizabeth. With Cape Town Blitz and Durban Heat also in the mix, the competition for the three knockout places is intensifying. While Nelson Mandela Bay Giants are in second place in the points table, only NRR separates the two sides. Both teams come into this game on the back of a loss and would be ideally looking to bounce back into winning ways. While the likes of AB de Villiers and Jason Roy feature for either side in the batting units, this game pits two of the best bowling attacks of MSL 2019. With either side being well-equipped to come away with points, a competitive game beckons. Here are a few tips to help you pick your Dream11 team for NMG vs TST.

Squads to choose from:

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants:

J J Smuts (C), Jason Roy, Farhaan Behardien, Imran Tahir, Chris Morris, Junior Dala, Beuran Hendricks, Matthew Breetzke, One Nyaku, Ben Dunk, Heino Kuhn, Marco Marais, Grant Thomson, Akhona Mnyaka, Nandre Burger and Dyllan Matthews

Tshwane Spartans:

Heinrich Klaasen (C), AB de Villiers, Tom Curran, Morne Morkel, Lungi Ngidi, Theunis de Bruyn, Roelof van der Merwe, Lutho Sipamla, Pite van Biljon, Tony de Zorzi, Waqar Salamkheil, Dean Elgar, Wiaan Mulder, Vaughn van Jaarsveld, Corbin Bosch, Donavon Ferreira

Playing XI Updates:

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants:

No changes are expected from the Bay Giants with captain, JJ Smuts already identifying a core group of players to work around with. Ben Dunk and Jason Roy will open the batting with a lot of experience in the middle order. In Smuts and Kuhn, they have two players who can pace their innings perfectly. The addition of Ryan ten Doeschate into the line-up bodes well for them with Marco Marais and Chris Morris handling the finishing duties. They have a resourceful bowling unit as well with Junior Dala and Imran Tahir impressing this season with Beuran Hendricks due for a good performance.

Possible XI: Roy, Dunk(WK), Smuts(C), Kuhn, ten Doeschate, Marais, Morris, Nyaku/Thomson, Tahir, Dala and Hendricks.

Tshwane Spartans:

Although they have just lost one game so far, Tshwane Spartans have some problems in the batting department. Theunis de Bruyn and Dean Elgar have underwhelmed of late although both of them should get another opportunity. They have been overly dependant on AB de Villiers with Heinrich Klaasen and Pite van Biljon also impressing at times. Their stronger suit has been their bowling with Lungi Ngidi and Tom Curran revelling in the death overs while Roelof van der Merwe has been very good of late with four wickets in his last two games.

Possible XI: Elgar, de Bruyn, de Villiers, Klaasen(C&WK), van Biljon, Mulder, van der Merwe, Curran, Ngidi, Morkel and Sipamla

December 3rd, 9:00 PM IST

St. George's Park, Port Elizabeth

Pitch Report:

The pitch in Port Elizabeth has slowed down over the last few weeks with some turn on offer for the spinners. Either side would love to chase here with 165-170 being a competitive total. With the weather also being on the brighter side, no interruptions are expected during the course of the game.

Fantasy Tips and Suggestions:

Wicket-keeper: Both Heino Kuhn and Heinrich Klassen are ideal options for this slot considering their experience. While Kuhn has already made a mark in MSL with a couple of cameos, Heinrich Klaasen should be able to put in a good performance in this must-win game. Pite van Biljon's fifty in the previous game also holds him in good stead although he should be ignored for Klaasen and Kuhn.

Batsmen: AB de Villiers and Ben Dunk are the must-have players for this game in the batting department. While Ben Dunk's explosive batting style should serve him well in the powerplay overs, AB de Villiers' form can't be ignored. With two fifties in three games, de Villiers is capable of scoring at a very quick rate regardless of the conditions. Along with the aforementioned duo, Dean Elgar and JJ Smuts also warranty a place in the side with both of them scoring some runs in MSL 2019 already.

Allrounders: Chris Morris and Roelof van der Merwe stand out as the ideal options for this contest. Both of them play the floaters role in the side with Morris scoring 76 runs so far at a strike-rate of 180.95. van der Merwe, on the other hand, has been in good wicket-taking form of late. With seven wickets in MSL 2019 so far, Roelof van der Merwe guarantees a wicket or two heading into this vital contest.

Bowlers: A number of quality bowling options are available for this game. Nevertheless, Junior Dala stands out with 11 wickets to his name along with Imran Tahir and Morne Morkel. Although Dala has been a touch expensive, his wicket-taking ability has served Nelson Mandela Bay Giants quite well. As for the final bowling pick, one of Tom Curran or Lungi Ngidi should suffice.

Captain: AB de Villiers is Tshwane Spartans' best bet with the bat with the RCB superstar scoring 184 runs so far. Along with de Villiers, Ben Dunk is another viable candidate for the multiplier option with the southpaw already scoring 179 runs at a strike rate of 142. If one were to pick an all-round option, JJ Smuts could be a decent punt.

Fantasy Suggestion #1: Heino Kuhn, Heinrich Klaasen, JJ Smuts, Ben Dunk, AB de Villiers, Chris Morris, Roelof van der Merwe, Imran Tahir, Morne Morkel, Tom Curran and Beuran Hendricks. Captain: AB de Villiers, Vice-Captain: Ben Dunk

Fantasy Suggestion #2: Heino Kuhn, JJ Smuts, Ben Dunk, AB de Villiers, Dean Elgar, Chris Morris, Roelof van der Merwe, Lungi Ngidi, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir and Beuran Hendricks. Captain: JJ Smuts, Vice-Captain: AB de Villiers
