NZ vs Ban, 2nd ODI: Dream11 Prediction, Playing XI Updates & Fantasy Cricket Tips - February 16th, 2019
After a fairly one-sided encounter in Napier, an upbeat New Zealand side take on tourists Bangladesh in the second ODI.
Martin Guptill was at his supreme best with an unbeaten century as an all-round Kiwi side put the Tigers to sleep although there were impressive in patches. In the absence of Shakib Al Hasan, none of Bangladesh's senior players were up to the mark even though Mohammed Mithun and Mohammed Saifuddin took them to a decent score.
With another competitive wicket on offer at the Hagley Oval, New Zealand will be looking to wrap up the series before their captain departs for a well-deserved rest. Although, it is not far-fetched to consider a Bangladeshi fightback.
Squads
New Zealand
Kane Williamson (c), Martin Guptill, Henry Nicholls, Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, James Neesham, Colin de Grandhomme, Tim Southee, Mitchell Santner, Todd Astle, Trent Boult, Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson
Bangladesh
Mashrafe Mortaza (c), Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Mohammed Mithun, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Sabbir Rahman, Mohammed Saifuddin, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nayeem Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Shafiul Islam and Mominul Haque
Playing XI Updates
New Zealand
With an opportunity to wrap up the series with a match in hand, not many changes are expected from the Kiwis. Henry Nicholls scored a fifty at the top of the order and with another good performance, he can possibly have the role for his own for the foreseeable future.
Colin de Grandhomme and Jimmy Neesham were steady with the ball in hand but their ability with the bat is yet to be tested fully and could see a promotion for the duo come Saturday.
Possible XI: Guptill, Nicholls, Williamson (c), Taylor, Latham (wk), Neesham, Grandhomme, Santner, Henry, Boult and Ferguson
Bangladesh
A top-order collapse saw Bangladesh play catch-up for the entire match although Mohammed Mithun and Saifuddin's performances would have delighted the management. Bangladesh fielded only four established bowlers which is a risk considering the NZ batting unit. Rubel Hossain could come in to shore up the bowling attack.
Possible XI: Tamim, Liton, Sarkar, Rahim (wk), Mithun, Mahmadullah, Mehidy, Saifuddin, Mortaza (c), Rubel and Mustafizur
Fantasy Tips and Suggestions
Wicket-keeper: Both Tom Latham and Mushfiqur Rahim are great options to have in the team although Rahim should get the nod considering the fragility of the Bangladesh top order. He is a quality player who is capable of scoring big at a good rate as well and would be a good pick as well.
Batsmen: Kane Williamson has had a surprisingly quiet summer this time around and with the captain being rested for the last ODI, he would be itching to put in a big performance. Along with him, the likes of Tamim Iqbal and Henry Nicholls are viable options to have in the team. Either of Soumya Sarkar or Liton Das would also be a handy pick with the former's medium pace bound to be involved at some stage of the NZ innings.
All-rounders: Mahmadullah Riyad is a must have in the side with his record against the NZ justifying his selection. Jimmy Neesham has risen up from the ashes to stake a claim for the World Cup and this might just be the perfect opportunity for him to zero-in on the position.
Bowlers: Lockie Ferguson and Trent Boult troubled the Bangladesh batsmen with bounce and swing respectively. The duo should be backed for this game as well with Matt Henry available to slot in for either of them. Mustafizur Rahman is their best pacer and along with him, either of Mashrafe Mortaza or Saifuddin would suffice.
Captain: Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls have been in decent form over the summer across all formats and are the front-runners for the mantle of captaincy. Mushfiqur Rahim and Ross Taylor are also due for a big score and could be outsiders for the captain slot.
Fantasy Suggestion #1: Mushfiqur Rahim (WK), Kane Williamson, Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Henry Nicholls, Jimmy Neesham, Mahmadullah Riyad, Trent Boult, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman and Lockie Ferguson. Captain: Kane Williamson
Fantasy Suggestion #2: Mushfiqur Rahim (WK), Kane Williamson, Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor, Liton Das, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmadullah Riyad, Mitchell Santner, Mustafizur Rahman, Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson. Captain: Ross Taylor
