While Pakistan will be over the moon with the win they would be wary of a wounded Proteas side

In the first of the five ODIs between hosts South Africa and Pakistan, it was the visitors who drew first blood thanks to bold performances from Imam Ul Haq and veteran, Mohammed Hafeez.

While Pakistan will be over the moon with the win they would be wary of a wounded Proteas side who might be wondering where it all went wrong. With Durban hosting the second ODI, the stage is set is for another nerve-wracking match between two of the best teams in the shorter formats.

Squads to choose from:

South Africa:

Faf du Plessis(C), Hashim Amla, Reeza Hendricks, Imran Tahir, Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Duanne Olivier, Dane Paterson, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen.

Pakistan:

Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Sarfraz Ahmed(C), M Hafeez, Hasan Ali, Hussain Talat, M Amir, Imam-ul-Haq, Shaheen Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Usman Shinwari, Imad Wasim, M Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Shan Masood, Shadab Khan

Playing XI Updates:

South Africa

Rassie van der Dussen had a bittersweet debut with the team losing despite his fifty. He should hold on to the number three spot although the same cannot be said for Andile Phehlukwayo.

The all-rounder was expensive in the middle overs and didn't complete his quota of ten overs too and could be swapped with a more recognized bowler in the form of Dane Paterson. This change also has its downfall with Phehlukwayo's batting ability known to all.

Possible XI: Amla, Hendricks, Dussen, Du Plessis(C), Klassen(WK), Miller, Pretorius, Phehlukwayo/Paterson, Rabada, Olivier and Tahir.

Pakistan

After ending of on the wrong side of a white-wash in the Test series, Mickey Arthur and Sarfraz Ahmed would have been delighted with Pakistan's reply in the first ODI. Not many changes are expected of the side with the batting unit performing admirably.

Usman Khan was fairly expensive in the first ODI and with the likes of Shaheen Afridi and Amir lurking, he is in danger of losing his place. Amir's recent form in the Tests could give him the nod.

Possible XI: Imam, Zaman, Azam, Hafeez, Malik, Sarfraz(C&WK), Shadab, Imam, Faheem, Hasan Ali and Usman Khan/Amir.

Fantasy Tips and Suggestions

Wicket-keeper

Sarfraz Ahmed is the preferred choice for this slot although Heinrich Klassen isn't a bad option as well. With the conditions slightly helpful for spin, both Klassen and Sarfraz are great options to go by keeping in mind the balance of the fantasy side.

Batsmen

Faf Du Plessis' record in Durban is staggering. His last two ODI's at the ground has yielded centuries and he should be one of the first names on the fantasy team sheet along with Pakistan ace, Babar Azam.

Reeza Hendricks has been in great form since his debut for the Jozi Stars in the Mzanzi Super League and is another viable option to go by. Either of Fakhar Zaman or Imam would also suffice.

All-rounders

Mohammed Hafeez guided the team through a tricky chase with an unbeaten fifty. The veteran also chipped in a few overs with the ball which makes him a handy option along with Dwaine Pretorius, whose bowling performance was immaculate in the previous match. With Phehlukwayo's position in doubt, Pretorius is the right option to abide by.

Bowlers

Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir, Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan are the ideal set of players to complete the fantasy team. Both Rabada and Hasan Ali are amongst the best pacers in the world with their records speaking for themselves.

Shadab Khan was brilliant with the ball against the likes of Amla and Dussen who were unable to put him away with conviction and would be invaluable with his batting prowess also coming in handy.

Imran Tahir and Duanne Olivier are also great options with Olivier's recent form against the same opposition and in the MSL propelling his chances.

Captain

Faf du Plessis is the front-runner for the mantle of captain with the Proteas captain not able to showcase his talent due to the efforts of Amla and Dussen. Babar Azam is also another candidate with the Pakistani in good form as well.

Fantasy Suggestion #1: Heinrich Klassen (WK), Faf du Plessis, Reeza Hendricks, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammed Hafeez, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir, Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali. Captain: Faf du Plessis.

Fantasy Suggestion #2: Sarfraz Ahmed (WK), Rassie van der Dussen, Faf du Plessis, Babar Azam, Imam Ul Haq, Reeza Hendricks, Mohammed Hafeez, Kagiso Rabada, Hasan Ali, Shadab Khan and Duanne Olivier. Captain: Babar Azam.
