Fantasy Cricket Tips

After another disappointing campaign devoid of any success, Canterbury and Wellington face each other in their last league match of the season at Christchurch on Saturday. While Wellington will rue some of the missed chances as they find themselves sitting agonizingly short of a preliminary final spot, Canterbury will have to do some rethinking with only two wins from their nine matches this season.

Todd Astle's return to the fold does boost their chances of preventing another wooden spoon though they should have their task cut out against a team possessing a formidable bowling lineup.

Squads to choose from:

Canterbury Kings:

Chad Bowes, Andrew Ellis, Steve Murdoch, Cole McConchie, Leo Carter, Cam Fletcher, Todd Astle, Kyle Jamieson, Henry Shipley, Jeremy Benton, Will Williams and Edward Nuttall

Wellington Firebirds:

Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Tom Blundell, Luke Woodcock, Malcolm Nofal, Lauchie Johns, Rachin Ravindra, Logan van Beek, Hamish Bennett, Ollie Newton, Jeetan Patel and Ben Sears

Playing XI Updates:

Canterbury Kings:

After a morale-boosting win in the previous game, Canterbury would hope for more of the same in their last league match as they try and avoid the wooden spoon. Todd Astle's return adds strength to their bowling that has been heavily reliant on Jamieson. Captain, Cole McConchie's performance with both bat and ball will be crucial against the might of Wellington.

Possible XI: Bowes, Ellis, Murdoch, Carter, McConchie (C), Fletcher(WK), Astle, Jamieson, Shipley, Williams and Nuttall.

Wellington Firebirds:

The last time these two teams faced off against each other, Michael Bracewell and Ben Sears were at their best as the Firebirds trumped Canterbury by 65 runs. Devon Conway leads the run-scoring charts with 352 runs and much is expected of him on Saturday.

Possible XI: Bracewell, Conway, Blundell(WK), Woodcock, Ravindra, Nofal, Van Beek, Bennett, Newton, Sears and Patel.

Fantasy Tips and Suggestions:

Wicket-keeper: Tom Blundell is the preferred choice, with the Wellington keeper in good form. With Cam Fletcher batting quite low in the Canterbury line-up, Blundell is the ideal choice to bring in some valuable points.

Batsmen: Chad Bowes, Steve Murdoch, Devon Conway and Michael Bracewell are the ideal players to have in your fantasy side with their recent form also justifying their selection. With a lack of options as well in the batting department, the aforementioned quartet are the safest options to select.

All-rounders: With a number of all-rounders available for selection, the trio of Todd Astle, Kyle Jamieson and Cole McConchie are the preferred options. Kyle Jamieson has picked up 19 wickets this season - four wickets more than any other bowler and is one to keep an eye on.

Bowlers: Logan van Beek and Hamish Bennett have been impressive with the ball in the powerplay and also at the death. Along with Ed Nuttall, both of them should prove to be worthy selections on a tricky Christchurch wicket.

Captain: Cole McConchie and Tom Blundell are the ideal options for captain while the likes of Devon Conway and Michael Bracewell are also in contention.

Fantasy Suggestion #1: Tom Blundell(WK), Chad Bowes, Steve Murdoch, Devon Conway, Michael Bracewell, Cole McConchie, Todd Astle, Kyle Jamieson, Ed Nuttall, Hamish Bennett and Logan van Beek. Captain: Tom Blundell.

Fantasy Suggestion #2: Tom Blundell(WK), Chad Bowes, Devon Conway, Michael Bracewell, Cole McConchie, Andrew Ellis, Kyle Jamieson, Henry Shipley, Logan van Beek, Ed Nuttall and Jeetan Patel. Captain: Cole McConchie.
