Super Smash 2018-19: Otago Volts vs Wellington Firebirds, Match 24: Dream11 Prediction, Playing XI Updates and Fantasy Cricket Tips - January 27th, 2019
With only a handful of games left in the Super Smash 2018-19 season, it has come down to the wire between Otago Volts and Wellington Firebirds, who face off once again in a bid to make the cut for the play-off.
Their previous match was a thriller with Otago winning by just one run in spite of a mammoth opening stand between Conway and Bracewell. With the action now moving to Dunedin, where rain is always a possibility, the match again promises entertainment of the highest order for fans alike.
Squads to choose from:
Otago Volts:
Neil Broom, Ben Cox(WK), Ben Raine, Jacob Duffy(C), Christi Viljoen, Nathan Smith, Hamish Rutherford, Brad Wilson, Josh Finnie, Shawn Hicks, Anaru Kitchen, Josh Tasman-Jones
Wellington Firebirds:
Devon Conway, Micheal Bracewell, Malcolm Nofal, James Neesham, Tom Blundell(WK), Troy Johnson, Hamish Bennett(C), Rachin Ravindra, Logan van Beek, Jeetan Patel, Ollie Newton, Ben Sears, Luke Woodcock.
Playing XI Updates:
Otago Volts:
After a brief stint on the sidelines, Neil Broom is back for the Volts and should slot in directly into the playing XI. Broom should open the batting with Rutherford, who hasn't been at his best this tournament. Anaru Kitchen and Cox are key to the Volts if they are to upstage a bowling heavy Firebirds side.
Possible XI: Broom, Rutherford, Kitchen, Cox(WK), Hicks, Finnie, Raine, Wilson, Viljoen, Nathan Smith and Duffy(C).
Wellington Firebirds:
The Firebirds have one of the best bowling attacks in the competition and should bank on their expertise if they are to avenge their previous loss. Adam Hose is unavailable due to an injury. James Neesham is definitely the player to watch out for. Van Beek and Bennett have been good with the ball and should lead the unit against a good Otago batting line-up.
Possible XI: Conway, Bracewell, Nofal, Neesham, Blundell(WK), Johnson, Van Beek, Bennett(C), Newton, Patel, and Sears.
Fantasy Tips and Suggestions:
Wicket-keeper: Both Tom Blundell and Ben Cox have been fairly good for their respective sides and choosing either of them wouldn't make much of a difference. Both of them are able batsmen and good behind the wickets making them handy assets to the fantasy team.
Batsmen: Michael Bracewell and Devon Conway have been superb at the top with a combined tally of 453 runs between them, the highest among all opening pairs. Both of them along with Hamish Rutherford are must-haves in a fantasy team. Neil Broom is also a useful option.
All-rounders: With the availability of some good allrounders, James Neesham, Anaru Kitchen and Ben Raine are the best possible options for the fantasy team. Ben Raine has been good in patches whereas Neesham is one of the Firebirds' best players and would look to do well against his former team.
Bowlers: Jacob Duffy, Logan van Beek, and Hamish Bennett are the ideal trio of bowlers to go ahead with. Duffy has ten wickets to his name, the highest among the Volts and has led then admirably as well. Jeetan Patel could also slot in for either of Van Beek or Bennett too.
Captain: The return of Neil Broom puts him firmly ahead of the other options although James Neesham is not one to be ruled out. The allrounder is currently in good form and is one to keep an eye out for along with the likes of Ben Raine.
Fantasy Suggestion #1: Ben Cox(WK), Hamish Rutherford, Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Neil Broom, James Neesham, Ben Raine, Anaru Kitchen, Logan van Beek, Hamish Bennett, and Jacob Duffy. Captain: James Neesham.
Fantasy Suggestion #2: Tom Blundell(WK), Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Neil Broom, Hamish Rutherford, Anaru Kitchen, James Neesham, Jacob Duffy, Logan van Beek, Jeetan Patel, and Nathan Smith. Captain: Neil Broom.
