10 things that have happened since Arsenal last won the Premier League

Arsenal last won the league title in 2003/04, and in classy fashion, going unbeaten the whole season, a record of 49 games that still stands to this day. Great things were expected of Wenger’s team after that campaign but fate turned out very differently.

The Gunners only broke their silverware drought in 2014 when they won the FA Cup, a title they defended in 2015. A lot has changed since they last lifted the coveted First Division title.

New super clubs have risen, tragedies have struck, heroes have laid down their lives for the good of the world. In the last 12 years, we can point to a lot of global events, which are remembered for an important reason.

So here are 10 amazing things that have happened since Arsenal last won the league

10) The Global recession

We start this list on a slightly crisis-related and controversial note. We have had many a recession in man’s glorious history but this one happened when the digital age was coming to the fore and TV ratings were at an all-time high.

The Lehmann brothers were famously jailed for the crime in what will probably go down as one of the biggest lies of the century. Back in 2009, Wenger being an expert in finance and economics did not hold back from having his say.

"It looks like football has not been hit by a recession but that is only due to exceptional circumstances, I still think that we will have to become more reasonable in the game, even if you have exceptional circumstances like Real Madrid and Man City.”

Wel,l it really didn’t turn out that way and clubs are still breaking transfer records to this day. Arsenal are not one of those clubs!
