2014 Federation Cup: Sporting Clube de Goa beat Rangdajied United 2-0, move into semifinals
Second half goals from Boima Jerry Karpeh and Victorino Fernandes was enough to give Sporting Clube de Goa a 2-0 victory over Rangdajied United FC in the 35th Federation Cup at the MDSC Stadium in Manjeri on Tuesday afternoon. The result was enough as East Bengal later on defeated Bengaluru FC to ensure the Flaming Oranje’s passage to the semifinals.
Nine minutes after resumption, Rowlin Borges picked out Boima Jerry Karpeh and he opened the scoring for the Flaming Oranje with a delightful chip over the Rangdajied United custodian. Twenty minutes from time, substitute Victorino Fernandes made sure of the victory for Sporting Goa as he ran past his marker before sinking the ball into back of the net.
With this result, Sporting Goa completed their Group B appointments with six points from three games and moved into the semifinals, while Bengaluru FC finished on four points, defending champions East Bengal on three points and Rangdajied United finish on two points.
