3 changes Manchester City need for a win against Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City v Stoke City - Premier League
City needs to produce a strong response against Spurs

Manchester City started the season in sensational fashion, and it seemed like they would emulate Arsenal of 2003-04. The Cityzens could have won the Premier League against United at home last week but faltered in the second half.

After being comprehensively beaten by Liverpool in the Champions League quarterfinals, they now travel to Wembley for a Spurs clash.

This season, Pep Guardiola's team was gunning to win a treble and now suddenly finds itself struggling to wrap up an EPL title triumph.

To get back to winning ways, here are the three changes that City need to make.

#3 Tougher defence

Nicholas Otamendi - rock at the back

Manchester City's defensive lapses have cost them dearly. In their must-win match against Liverpool, their defenders had a horrible night where their mistakes cost them the game.

In that game they played three defenders, leaving Kompany out to get an extra attacking option. It was a forced decision as they needed to press forward and score goals.

Unfortunately, the defense did not stand up and Liverpool easily exposed the fragile City defense.

With the backing of the Abu Dhabi royal family, City had spent a little more than £200 million just on new defenders this season. Nicolas Otamendi who plays as a center back for City is a vital cog in the team.

He had a horrible game against Liverpool where he lost control and gave away the ball, leading to Firmino scoring an easy goal.

They need to bring in Vincent Kompany who is their most experienced defender, and use a 4-3-3 formation.

This will help beef up their defence, and close out the open spaces. The other tactic that the Cityzens can think of using is man-marking Harry Kane and not give him space in the box.
