3 Managers that can replace Santiago Solari at Real Madrid
Season 2018-19 has been one of the roughest campaigns Real Madrid has witnessed in their recent years. Before the season started Zidane announced his departure from the club. Fans were still not over Zidane's departure when they were blown away by the news of Cristiano Ronaldo making a switch from Real Madrid to Juventus.
Julen Lopetegui was entrusted with the job but lacklustre performances and tough luck cost him his job. The final nail in the coffin was a humiliating defeat against FC Barcelona.
Santiago Solari was appointed to get Real Madrid out of this mess. Initial results were promising as Madrid brought home the FIFA Club World Cup but yet again the results have dwindled. Real Madrid currently sit fifth in La Liga and the notoriously hard to please Florentino Perez is reportedly growing tired of the mediocrity.
Florentino Perez is already planning for the next season and has shortlisted managers to take over next season. Here are the 3 managers that have been heavily linked to the job.
#3 Jose Mourinho
Jose Mourinho after parting ways with Manchester United is currently considering his options. The Portuguese was sacked by Manchester United last month following the Red Devils' 3-1 defeat to bitter rivals Liverpool.
Since leaving his post in Manchester the two-time Champions League winner has been out of work but there has been no shortage of top sides keeping track of his progress.
Benfica recently made an approach for their former boss but it seems like Mourinho is holding out for a bigger club. Another club that seems interested in acquiring the services of the Portuguese man is his former employer, Real Madrid the interest is mutual.
Los Blancos recently hired Santiago Solari after sacking Julen Lopetegui as their manager but the Argentine is struggling to get results.
Jose Mourinho has proven credentials as he has won silverware with Real Madrid previously.
Mourinho is open to the idea of returning to Madrid, but according to Mundo Deportivo journalist Francesc Aguilar, he has put forward two conditions. Unsurprisingly Mourinho wants assurances over how much money he will have in hand to spend and has apparently told Perez he wants to be able to strengthen Real Madrid in two specific areas: in defense and up front.
