3 players who will leave Liverpool for free this summer
Liverpool are standing on the horizon of a new era. Manager Jurgen Klopp will leave the club this summer, with Anre Slot reportedly replacing him next season.
The Reds have also retooled their executive setup. Richard Hughes has been appointed as the club's new sporting director, with Julian Ward and Pedro Marques joining him as technical director and director of football development respectively ahead of the next season.
The trio will likely plot a major overhaul to the squad during the off-season. On that note, here's a list of three players who will leave Liverpool for free this summer.
#3 Adrian
Adrian joined Liverpool on a free transfer from West Ham United during the summer transfer window of 2019.
The Spaniard has largely been utilised as third choice goalkeeper by the Reds and has played just 14 Premier League games in the last five years. He was part of the Reds squad that won the Premier League title in 2019-20 and EFL Cup this season.
His current contract at Anfield is set to expire at the end of this season. In a recent interview, the 37-year goalkeeper expressed his desire to move to Spain next summer.
“I think Adrian [the player] has a long time left and it’s true that I would like to return to LaLiga. It has to be a nice, interesting project," he said.
#2 Joel Matip
Liverpool signed Joel Matip on a free transfer from FC Schalke in the summer transfer window of 2016. The former Cameroon international is considered among the greatest free transfers in the club's history.
He has played 150 Premier League games for the Anfield outfit so far, recording nine goals and 54 clean sheets. Matip helped the Reds win six major trophies, including one Premier League title and one UEFA Champions League trophy. He also won the PFA Premier League Player of the Month accolade in September 2019.
Liverpool have officially announced that Matip will leave the club at the end of the season. He is set to say goodbye to his teammates this weekend.

Thiago is considered among the most talented footballers of his generation. He joined the Reds from Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window of 2020.
The Spain international has played 68 Premier League games for the Reds, registering two goals and four assists. Thiago has helped the Anfield outfit win one FA Cup and one FA Community Shield. He was also part of the PFA Premier League Team of the Season 2021-22
