3 strikers who can be Harry Kane's short-term replacement
After the disappointing defeat to Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur have been hit with another severe blow. Their captain and main striker Harry Kane has been ruled out with an ankle injury until March. The England captain will miss a number of important games which also includes two Champions League fixtures, against Borussia Dortmund. Spurs have a very thin chance of winning the Premier League this year and that could be affected with Kane's absence throughout a key part of the season.
Spurs are also depleted in their squad as a number of players are injured. However, a striker seems to be a priority right now for the London club. With Fernando Llorente also looking for a move away, here are three strikers who could take Harry Kane's position until he returns.
Marko Arnautovic
Marko Arnautovic has scored 8 goals so far for West Ham is close to moving away from the Hammers. His next destination is rumoured to be China but the Austrian's services might be desired by other English sides too.
Arnautovic is a towering presence who would be the ideal target man for any team. He could emulate Harry Kane easily and might be able to play the super-substitute role after Kane's return. He is experienced in the Premier League and will guarantee a few goals to make up for Kane's absence.
However, his price-tag might put Spurs away from moving for him.
Divock Origi
Liverpool forward Divock Origi has been short of game time and he would be better off to look for a move away from the club. He is below Firmino and Sturridge in the pecking order and this might affect his career.
Tottenham could do with some players who are agile and can use spaces very well and Origi fits the bill. He would be a good backup for Kane and with age on his side, Origi could be a good investment. Origi might also be available cheap which could prompt Spurs to target him.
Malcom
Malcom may not be a genuine striker but he can solve the problems of Spurs in front of the goal until Kane returns. Malcom is quick and has a great future ahead of him. He has not settled at Barcelona and the Catalan club are looking to sell the Brazilian.
Malcom himself is looking for a move and Spurs could be a good club for him. Pocchetino's tactics would fit the forward's playing style and he could flourish under him. He will also get good game-time which could propel him to the next level of his career.
