Despite a brilliant start to the season, FC Barcelona experienced a major setback in their quest for glory, this term. The Catalans were on track to win another treble this year, flying comfortably on top of the La Liga table with a few matches left and had already made it to the final of the Copa Del Rey. They were also in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.
However, their treble hopes were squashed when they got knocked-out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals. After a comfortable 4-1 victory over Roma at the Camp Nou, the Catalans were humiliated in their visit to Rome. They suffered an embarrassing 3-0 defeat in Italy, with the Romans overcoming them with an away goal.
That defeat was met with a lot of criticism. In fact, many Barcelona fans reacted angrily on social media, criticising the club for throwing away such a great advantage.
