3 things learned from Liverpool's narrow victory over Brighton | Premier League 2018/19

On Saturday, Liverpool travelled to the south coast of England to face Brighton at the AMEX stadium. The Merseysiders were looking to end the losing streak they endured in their two games previous to this fixture and Brighton were looking to keep up a good run of form that they had put together. In the end, Liverpool's quality prevailed and Klopp's men ran out 1-0 winners in this difficult away fixture.

Mo Salah was the decider in the game. After he was brought down in the penalty area by Pascal Groß, who had a handful of his shirt. The Egyptian stepped up and placed a fiercely struck penalty passed David Button in the Brighton goal, to send Liverpool back to Anfield with all 3 points.

Liverpool have had some injury troubles at centre back as of recently, with Dejan Lovren, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all being out with injuries. This has led to Klopp calling upon Fabinho to fill in until his other 3 centre-halves are back fit and in training.

As a central defensive midfielder, who plays as a right back for his country, he showed his versatility once again by putting up a stellar performance against Brighton on Saturday. The former Monaco man looked unphased in a position he isn't familiar with.

Fabinho made a terrific block which kept the scores at 1-0 and made sure that the Reds went home with all 3 points. He made 6 clearances, more than any other Liverpool player on the pitch.

A great partnership was shown between himself and Virgil Van Dijk, with Klopp's style still being played to its full capabilities. Even though Fabinho will be preferred in his natural role, I'm sure no fans would complain if he played alongside Van Dijk again.
