3 Wolves players who should worry Manchester City
Manchester City are on a roll at the moment. They defeated the table-toppers Liverpool 2-1 in their last Premier League game and then scored 16 goals against a hapless Rotherham United and Burton Albion in the FA Cup and EFL Cup games respectively. Despite losing a few games in December, Manchester City have sent clear warning signs to their rivals.
A team that has really caught the attention of most fans in the Premier this season has been Wolverhampton Wanderers. When they were destroying teams in the Championship last season, no one thought they would be such a force in the Premier League as well.
However, that hasn’t been the case. In fact, many of the top teams in the league this season have already had tough outings against the Wolves. This was even made clear when they defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the FA Cup third round game on Monday.
Their next game will be against Manchester City, a team they managed to walk away with a draw when they met last time.
Pep Guardiola and his City side will have to be mindful of Wolves if they are to keep their momentum running and stay alive in the title race.
Here are some players who should worry Manchester City ahead of their game with Wolverhampton.
#3 Ruben Neves
A powerhouse midfielder that any team in the Premier League and beyond would love to have among their ranks. Ruben Neves has proven that he’s ready for this stage in a way that really wasn’t expected of him. Within no time, we are hearing news of him being chased by one of the big teams.
Even Manchester City would be proud to have him in their ranks as a long-term replacement for the aging Fernandinho. He’s strong on the tackles, reads the game well and hence, he makes numerous interceptions and can pick a long range pass with ease.
The 21-year-old certainly has amazing potential to make it at the highest level. Manchester City will have to be really watchful of this young Portuguese midfielder and keep him away from their box.
