5 bold end of season predictions - England and Europe

DISCLAIMER: The opinions is this article are solely the author’s and not necessarily those of SportsKeeda.

With a total of 68 points from 27 games and 11 games to protect their 12 point lead, Manchester United are well on their way to claim another Premier league trophy – something that has been a routine for them in the Premier League era.

It has been a disappointing season for the neutrals. So much was expected out of Manchester City and Chelsea, but both have failed to deliver when it mattered. On the other hand, Lady Luck has favoured Manchester United in every possible way. But lets not take away anything from the team, who made a habit of winning games in any situation. Either they would dominate matches and score for fun, or they would ride on luck and still get the result. Liverpool are pretty much out of the race for the top 4 spots yet again, and out of the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup too. Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal are all fighting for a place in the top 4. It’s safe to say that all the three teams will play European football – either the Champions League or Europa League – next season.

Talking about European football, AC Milan shocked the world by defeating Barcelona. Real Madrid played a 1-1 draw, a game they could and should have won. United now have a crucial away goal, and they are undoubtedly the favourites to make it to the next round, considering Old Trafford has been a fortress in recent times.

With another season coming to an end, here are my Premier League & Champions League predictions -

1. Manchester United to win the Premier league

I just cant see United dropping a 12 points lead with 11 games to go. Its not impossible; okay, its pretty much impossible.

The best thing about United is that every year, some or the other player steps up to play the season of his life. Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo, Rooney and now RVP. And then there are players like Scholes and Giggs who seem ageless. City will finish 2nd, and that’s the best they can do this season.

2.Tottenham to finish 3rd Behind Manchester Clubs

It wont be wrong to say the Spurs are at par with the so-called big London clubs – Chelsea and Arsenal. Spurs are no more a club that is chasing Arsenal and Chelsea. In terms of depth of the squad, they are better than Arsenal. With players like Dembele and Bale in sizzling form, I can’t see anyone stopping Spurs from finishing 3rd in the table.

3. AC Milan To Win Champions League

Okay this is a big one! History has it that whenever Real and Barcelona don’t deliver, Milan does! Barca and Real both will get knocked out and AC Milan will lift the Champions League once again.

4. Spurs to win the Europa League

Another bold prediction, but it’s not baseless, is it? Spurs deserve a trophy. And this season, their intentions are very clear. They don’t want to just sit down satisfied by claiming a top 4 place. They want to taste some silverware. The way they knocked out Lyon must have lifted the spirits. They have the squad and quality to win the Europa League this season, and I think they will.

5. FA Cup to go to Manchester

After missing out on the Premier League, City will give their all to win the FA Cup. United, on the other hand, would love to do a double. Chelsea will make it to the semi-finals maybe, but won’t make it any further. Eventually, one of the Manchester clubs will claim the FA Cup.
