5 key stats from Juventus' 3-1 win against Real Madrid
A 3-1 win for Juventus at the Santiago Bernebau wasn't enough to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the Champions League as Real Madrid went through 4-3 on aggregate. Juventus took the lead immediately after the first whistle as Mario Mandzukic gave the Italian champions the lead in less than 120 seconds.
Mandzukic got himself on the scoresheet again, doubling the lead in the 37th minute as the Bianconeri sniffed an upset. The comeback was complete when Blaise Matuidi equalized the score on aggregate in the second half, pouncing on a mistake from Keylor Navas.
However, Real Madrid was awarded a penalty as Mehdi Benatia was penalized for a foul on Lucas Vazquez in stoppage time. Gianluigi Buffon was sent off for confronting the referee and the spot kick was converted by Cristiano Ronaldo.
