5 Most hated footballers

The game of football, entertaining and breathtaking as it is, certainly has its share of ‘Bad Boys’. Players who are gifted and possess great ability with the football have sometimes walked into a lot of controversy and disrepute. Here are the top 5 players who have wasted away their talents for all the wrong reasons:

5. Luis Suarez

He is one of those players despite the great run of form, finds himself embroiled in one controversy or the other. Diving, racism allegations and handballs are some of the controversies this gifted player finds himself involved in. Last season, he was in the headlines for the racism allegations. He had also been the centre of attention for his handball against Ghana in the 2010 World Cup. This season, he is surrounded by diving accusations. What’s next for the Anfield star?

4. Ashley Cole

On his day, one of the best fullbacks in the world and on some others, well, the less said the better. It all started when he decided to make that move from one side of London to the other(Arsenal to Chelsea). Infamously known as “Cashley Cole”, he has shown exactly why he came to be called so. He has been disqualified from driving for a few months, shot at a 21 year old at his training ground among other ‘little’ incidents like speeding violations, swearing at a police officers and so on.

3. Joey Barton

This man has to be one of the most disliked footballers in recent times. He has his disciplinary problems both on and off the pitch. He was arrested in 2008 and served 77 days in prison for assault. He has had quite a few confrontations on the field, the most recent one coming on the last day of the 2011-2012 season where he attacked 3 players! From attacking players on the football field to being a two time convict, he has done everything it takes for him to earn the third spot on this list.

2. John Terry

Though he has been a loyal servant for his club and country, his on and off field antics have overshadowed his defending abilities. He has had to deal with allegations ranging from extramarital affairs to racial abuse, not to mention his violence records. He had been stripped of the National captaincy and banned by the FA. He has done almost everything needed to deserve this place on the list.

1. Mario Balotelli

This player needs no introduction. Known for consistently attracting controversy and being in the news for wrong reasons, he picks himself to the top spot in this list. He has shown that he cannot wear a bib by himself, has set off fireworks in his house, ignored his manager several times, walked into press conferences of former clubs, thrown darts at youth team players, the list could go on. His on-field disciplinary record has got his manager fuming at him. But it must be noted that lost between all these controversies, is quite a talented player.
