5 players with most appearances in Tottenham Hotspur's history
Tottenham Hotspur are one of the biggest clubs in England. The North Londoners have won multiple trophies in their history, including two first-division titles, eight FA Cups and four League Cup titles. However, much of that success came in the 1900s with the club only winning the EFL Cup since the turn of the century.
Despite a lack of trophies in recent years, Tottenham Hotspur have managed to attract some of the top talents in world football. They have also promoted players from their youth academy who have gone on to play a significant role for the club.
The North Londoners still have the ambition of becoming an England elite once again and are working towards that objective. With that in mind, let's take a look at the five players with the most appearances in Tottenham Hotspur history.
#5 Darren Anderton - 347 Appearances
The Englishman is one of the legends at the club. He spent 12 years with the London outfit, forming a brilliant partnership with England great Teddy Sheringham in the early years. A dynamic winger, Anderton troubled defenders with his skills and often found the back of the net.
Anderton made 347 appearances for the club in all competitions during his decade-long spell. His career's only major troohy came with Spurs when they won the League Cup in 1999.
After leaving Spurs in 2004, the winger played for Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers before calling time on his career at AFC Bournemouth.
He also earned 30 caps for the English national team, scoring seven goals. Anderton represented the Three Lions at the 1996 European Championships and the 1998 World Cup.
#4 Jermain Defoe - 347 Appearances
The English forward has a huge and great history in English football. The striker played for several clubs in the Championship and the Premier League, with his most successful spell coming at Tottenham Hotspur.
Jermain Defoe spent 11 years at the club over two different spells and is the sixth highest goal-scorer in their history. He is one of the very few players to have scored over 100 goals in the Premier League.
The Englishman enjoyed great success for Tottenham Hotspur in front of goal but wasn't able to replicate it on the collective front. He won the League Cup in 2008, which is his only title success in England.
He made 57 appearances for the national team, scoring 20 goals. He was also a part of the 2012 Euro Cup and the 2010, 2014 World Cup squad.
