Manchester United has given their caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the permanent job with a 3-year contract. The confirmation was released on Thursday the 28th of March, 2019.

The long speculation regarding who will take this place after the removal of Jose Mourinho has finally come to an end. The caretaker manager who left the job at Molde to join Manchester United was given permanent status.

Here are the reasons why the correct decision was taken by the Manchester United board.

#1 The players like him:

Right after being given the permanent job, the players began congratulating him on Twitter on getting the new job. The players seem more than happy to have him as their manager. This is reflected by their performance as well. Right after Mourinho was replaced and Solskjaer had just come in, the team played with different energy as if the players were too reluctant to play under Mourinho anymore.

#2 His record since joining:

Manchester United have scored more than 40 goals in the last 3 months under Solskjaer. They have only lost three matches in the 20 that they have played under him. He has been successful in maintaining such a streak with the same team which Mourinho was struggling to find victory with. This feat was all the more difficult with most of the first choice players getting injured.

#3 Manchester's declining fortunes:

Manchester United have been finding it difficult to keep their place in the top since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. Neither David Moyes nor Louis Van Gaal could bring them to the position Sir Alex left them at. Jose Mourinho led the team to win the Europa League but failed to keep good terms with the players. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to have come to the rescue of the ailing team.

#4 He is a former player:

Solskjaer is a former Man United player himself so has an idea of what the players feel when they play for this club. He knows the feeling of playing on the Old Trafford grass as a home ground. Being a former player helps him understand the temper of the team very well. He also has an idea of what is expected of Manchester United to perform and achieve.

#5 Doing the impossible against PSG

Playing with 10 injured players out of the game and the main midfielder Pogba sitting out on a red card, Manchester United looked like they could never defeat PSG at the Parc des Princes. But that was not what was in the mind of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Lukaku scored a brace and Rashford scored a last-minute penalty to net the ball against Buffon and seal the victory. If he could win that game with that team then there's very little doubt on what he can't do.

Giving him the job was something even ex-players like Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand felt would be the right decision. The fans are over on top of the world with the news. All of this looks like it was the correct decision to give him the job.
