5 Serie A stars who would make Real Madrid a better team

Zinedine Zidane has a few issues to sort out at Real Madrid

There is not much doubt that Real Madrid is, indeed, the best team in the world at the moment. As a matter of fact, they are the reigning Spanish as well as European champions after having dominated Juventus, following a 4-1 drubbing in the final.

Having said that, retaining your place at the top of the mountain is very often a harder task than climbing it, in the first place.

Los Blancos need to take the necessary steps in order to retain their current success, and one of the essential measures is certainly to be active in the transfer market. That being said, here are 5 players from the Italian league, who we believe can improve Real Madrid and allow their dominance to last for longer:

#5 - Dries Mertens:

Karim Benzema has so often done the job for Real Madrid. His intelligent link-up play helps allows Cristiano Ronaldo more freedom on the pitch and helps create more goal-scoring chances in and around the area.

However, the French star has been worryingly inconsistent in the past few months, as the Bernabéu fans already regret selling Spanish striker Alvaro Morata to English champions, Chelsea.

What Benzema needs is competition, and Dries Mertens is certainly someone capable of providing it to him. The Napoli attacker is already on 8 goals and 3 assists in 12 games this season, whereas Karim has merely reached 3 goal involvements in 6 matches.

Regardless of whether the Frenchman is out of form or injured, Madrid need a reliable alternative. The room for error is minimal at this high a level, and the sooner the Spanish giants act to solve this problem, the better.
