5 summer signings who should move again this month
The winter transfer window has already seen a couple of record signings - Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool for £75m and Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £142m
This has carried on the crazy trend of inflated player valuations following Neymar's world record move to PSG in the summer, with both Liverpool and Barca having almost certainly paid over the odds for their new signings.
Not every big-money summer signing was successful though. While Neymar and Mbappe have been lighting up Paris, several new players failed to live up to their lofty price tags and might choose a way out in the winter transfer window.
Here are five summer signings who should try and move on in the winter.
#5 Dani Ceballos (Real Madrid)
The 21-year-old Spaniard first gained the attention of football fans all over the world when he starred for Spain in the UEFA European U21 Championship. He ended the tournament as the best player, but couldn't stop Germany from beating Spain 1-0 in the finals.
Ceballos' main merit is his work rate, using his energy to move up and down the pitch to participate in defence and attack. He's capable of lying deep to break down attacks or push ahead to support the forwards.
He'd already established himself as a first choice at Real Betis back in 2014, and finally got the appreciation he deserved after the U21 Euros.
Florentino Perez and Zinedine Zidane deemed him worthy of Real Madrid and signed him for €18 million in the summer.
Most fans thought it was a very good deal for a very reasonable price, considering that Barca splashed out €40 million for a similar player in Paulinho.
But since then, the Brazilian has gone on to become the highest scoring midfielder in La Liga so far, and Ceballos has made only 6 league appearances.
For all the difficulties he's faced this season, its clear that Zidane isn't going to change his preferred midfield trio of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Carlos Casemiro.
Ceballos would do himself a huge favour if he moved out on loan elsewhere, and almost every mid-table club in Spain would be willing to take him.
Reports recently emerged that Ceballos himself was interested in a move to Liverpool to replace Coutinho, but the Reds have expressed no interest in him yet.
