On Saturday, as Klopp's men continued to march towards the Premier League title, Liverpool faced Crystal Palace at Anfield. This game was Liverpool's first home game of 2019, after playing Manchester City, Wolves and Brighton all away from home since the turn of the year.

In what was a nerve-racking game for Liverpool fans, thanks to a brace from Mohamed Salah, the Reds beat a resolute Palace side 4-3. This was Hodgson's first defeat as an opposition manager at Anfield.

A pulse-raising game for everyone involved, but especially for Liverpool fans. With the scores being 3-2, flashbacks will of occurred to when Crystal Palace came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 to prevent Rodgers' Liverpool sealing the title.

However, this didn't affect Liverpool and they went onto extend their lead at the top to 7 points, with Man City having a game in hand.

Hodgson's Palace side put in a solid performance against Liverpool, and will feel hard done by that they left the home of the league leaders empty-handed.

Resolute would be the word to describe Palace's performance. The three goals they scored in this game is the same amount that Liverpool had conceded all season at home before they played them.

This isn't the only time that they have scored 3 goals against at title challenger this season. they defied the odds against Manchester City and ran out 3-2 winners, with Andros Townsend scoring the pick of the goals.

Hodgson's men also ground out a 2-2 draw with Arsenal earlier in the season, showing that the former Liverpool boss is able to motivate his side for the big games.

Crystal Palace currently sit in 14th place, 3 points above the relegation zone. If Hodgson can motivate his players for the lesser games as well as he does for the big games, Palace should have enough to survive.
