81% shot accuracy: Barcelona linked with Chelsea’s lethal Belgian

Newspaper reports have today linked Everton’s on loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku with a shock move to Barcelona. The Belgian youngster has endured a difficult time at Stamford Bridge, but has flourished during loan spells at both West Bromwich Albion and Everton, leading the Metro to link the 20 year old with the Spanish champions.

Lukaku has started his loan spell at Goodison Park in the same vein as his season-long loan at West Brom last season, with eight goals in his nine appearances. During his spell at the Hawthorns Lukaku, scored 17 goals in 35 games to become one of the continent’s hottest young strikers.

However doubts remain over his long term future at Stamford Bridge. Despite Chelsea fans calling for him to have an extended run in the Blues side Jose Mourinho sent the youngster out on loan for the season, instead preferring to persevere with the misfiring Fernando Torres and Demba Ba and the ageing Samuel Eto’o.

Earlier this week Mourinho insisted that Lukaku would not be leaving Chelsea, but reports continue to link the Belgian with a move.

Responding to Lukaku’s positivity to suggestions that he could remain at Everton next season, Mourinho said:

“Maybe there is a new rule in football where when the season finishes every player is able to decide their own future.

“Romelu likes to speak. He’s a young boy who likes to speak. But the only thing he didn’t say is why he went to Everton on loan.”

Lukaku has only missed the target with four shots this season – a success rate of 81%
