Italian giants Inter Milan have had nine of their fans banned after a series of clashes with Juventus supporters during last week’s Derby d’Italia, ESPN FC reports.

A bunch of Inter Milan supporters engaged in a series of fights with the visiting fans after Juventus managed to overcome the 1-0 deficit. The CCTV cameras at the San Siro along with eye witness accounts helped apprehend the perpetrators.

The government agency, Osservatorio Nazionale sulle Manifestazioni Sportive, which is responsible for sporting events are pleased that the miscreants will be barred from entering a stadium in Italy for life.

“The organisation expresses particular satisfaction for the work carried out by the Milan Police authorities, which has led to the identification of nine people charged with grievous bodily harm and with climbing over barriers,”

“As a result, anti-social (DASPO) orders have been served and their fans’ membership cards have been revoked. The rapid identification of those responsible was made possible by the fact all tickets bear the possessor’s name, there is an efficient surveillance system in the Stadio Meazza, and there was the collaboration of numerous fans, who did not hesitate in sharing their views of the attack on tablets and smart phones.

“All of this confirms that our rigorous strategy is contributing significantly to making Italian stadia lawful venues.”

During the game Inter fans also chanted some racial slurs which is becoming very popular in Italy.
