A poem for Andrea Pirlo
I wish I could revel
That pass of another level
To Fabio Grosso against Germany
That stole the hearts of many
I wish I could witness
The menacing astuteness
Of that piledriver against Parma
Borne of past good karma
I wish I could say
That I saw you play
During your peak in San Siro
Where you became Milan's hero
But I was either a child
Or out in the wild
And missed those moments
For which I have only repentance
But I watched you destory Hart
With a panenka of art
Which awoke the world from its slumber
While lighting an already glowing ember
I saw how you made love to the ball
While caressing it above a defeated wall
As it floated into the net
Leaving everyone astounded
Time might flow like a king
Perishing everything and every being
But for you, it always paused
For you are Andrea Pirlo, a gift from God
