A positive look at Manchester United's loss to Everton
Manchester United were beaten 1-0 by Everton at Old Trafford – something that has not happened since 1992.
In spite of that there were some positives for David Moyes against his former club. Manchester United faithful should not lose hope with this defeat. Moyes has a long way to go before he can make a name for himself, but he needs more time and even Sir Alex had to struggle a bit before he won 38 trophies. The Red Devils may not win the Premier League this year but can always come back next season as a stronger and better team, I’m sure Moyes make sure his team will do just that. There is always a rainbow after a storm.
David Moyes got his selections right for the match against Everton and most of his players did not let him down. David De Gea was excellent between the sticks and made some stunning saves to deny Romelu Lukaku and Gerard Deulofeu. The center back duo of Vidic and Smalling were also effective and made several important clearances for their team.
The midfield department needs some fresh legs, but the current crop put in a decent performance. Former Toffee Fellani saw a lot of the ball and managed to complete all his passes but was wasteful at times. Kagawa and Giggs put in a lively performance and only bad luck prevented them from scoring a goal. Rooney was a powerhouse on the pitch and had several shots on goal but was denied by Tim Howard. Adnan Januzaj came on late and put in another strong performance and came close to scoring a goal for the home team.
David Moyes made the right decision when he chose to drop Tom Cleverley and Rio Ferdinand. Cleverley has just not found his feet within the team yet, and Ferdinand is on the wrong side on 35 right now. The former England international still has a few more years left in him but would have struggled to cope with a young fast paced team like Everton.
Manchester United held out for quite long during the match and successfully kept Everton at bay. Liverpool could not manage to do that and allowed 3 goals to get past them in the recent Merseyside derby. Moyes will surely bring in reinforcements next season and get rid of the under-performing players in the team.
The Red Devil have something to smile about as Nick Powell, Jesse Lingard and Angelo Henriquez are having extremely fruitful seasons at their temporary clubs and are sure to be given more first team chances next season. Wilfried Zaha is also progressing in the Under-21 team and is regaining his Crystal Palace form, with Ashley Young virtually out of the team Zaha is sure to get his chance in the near future. David Moyes will turn the tide in Manchester United’s favor but things will get a lot worse before they get any better.
