Aaron Ramsey set to miss World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Georgia

Ramsey was injured in Arsenal’s Premier League opening day match against Liverpool

Wales international footballer Aaron Ramsey is set to miss World Cup qualifier ties against Austria and Georgia next month following injury in the Premier League opening day fixture against Liverpool.

The midfielder was one of the best performers in the Wales national team that had reached the semi-final of EURO 2016 earlier this year.

Chris Coleman, the Wales manager, has now further revealed that the 25-year-old midfielder had “broken down” in an Arsenal training session earlier this week and is a major doubt against Wales’ World Cup qualifier against Serbia in November.

The Wales man had injured his hamstring against league rivals Liverpool and was also not available against Moldova, the opening World Cup qualifying fixture of his country.

Coleman was vocal against Arsene Wenger’s decision to include the midfielder in the Liverpool game as he thinks the midfielder had a short pre-season because of the Euros earlier this year and should not have started the league game.

Arsene Wenger later admitted that he “pushed” the midfielder and that the Gunners midfielder was “not completely free in his mind” following the defeat to Liverpool.

Ramsey broke down in training

The Wales manager also fumed over the initial prognosis proving wrong. “I had an indication he would only be out for three weeks when he initially did it,” the Wales manager said in an interview with the Guardian. “That was six weeks ago,” he added.

“I don’t know now. I have had more information from Sean Connelly, our head physio, who is liaising with Arsenal, that he has broken down in training,” said the Wales manager, when asked about when he is expecting the star midfielder to be back.

He later revealed that Arsenal has not provided him with any more details regarding Ramsey’s present condition.

Coleman unsure when Ramsey will be back

Coleman also revealed that he is not sure whether the Arsenal footballer will be available for selection for the World Cup qualifier against Serbia. “'I can’t be sure he will be back for Serbia,” he said.

Coleman also told that he was enthusiastic to have Ramsey in the previous training camp, “I was sure in the last camp I would have him for this camp. It is frustrating. It is preventables,” he further added.

'I am disappointed because we are without him again,’ Coleman explained.

The former Fulham manager was clearly annoyed when asked about Ramsey’s treatment procedure. “I don’t know the exact history of what he has been doing the last six weeks. So it is hard to comment on whether he was pushed too hard or not enough,” he told the Guardian

Wales will face Austria in a World Cup qualifying match on September 6.
