Rumour: AC Milan looking to make audacious swoop for Chelsea duo
AC Milan are looking to make an audacious move for Chelsea duo Fernando Torres and Marco van Ginkel, according to reports.
The reports suggest that the Rossoneri have identified the Spanish international forward as the man to fill the void left by the departure of their enigmatic forward Mario Balotelli to Liverpool last weekend.
Torres has had a torrid time ever since donning the blue colors of Chelsea in January, 2011 for a then, British record transfer fee of £50million. The Spanish international has seen his reputation take a dramatic tumble in the last few years, scoring a paltry 20 goals in 110 appearances for the club.
The 30-year-old has now become the third choice at Stamford Bridge following the arrival of Diego Costa and the return of Didier Drogba to his old stomping ground. He has now seen himself getting linked to a second Serie A side in as many weeks after Roma enquired about the Chelsea no. 9.
The Rossoneri also have their eyes on Chelsea’s Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel and looking at the words of Milan president Adriano Galliani, are confident about bringing the youngster to San Siro on a loan.
The departure of Van Ginkel would also help the Londoners to solve their problems of surplus foreigner that now exists, while he takes in vital experience at the big stage in Italy.
Speaking to Milan’s official TV channel, Galliani said: “Our goal is to take a great striker.
“Fernando Torres? He is a great striker. Let’s see if he comes or someone else. We are actively working.
“Van Ginkel? We are confident. We have made our proposal to Chelsea and are now waiting on an answer. We hope we can get him.”
