No contact for Thiago Silva yet: Agent

Agent of 27-year-old defender Thiago Silva insists he has held no talks with any of the clubs over a potential move for his client.

Reports have repeatedly linked the AC Milan defender with a move to some other European club, with Manchester City, Barcelona and Paris St.Germain interested to offer the Brazilian an escape route. However, Paulo Tonietto told calciomercato.it:

“I can assure everyone that I have not been contacted by Barcelona or any other club. Milan have not notified me of any update. There are just rumours and there is no truth in it.”

Silva, who joined Milan from Fluminense in 2009 and is under a contract with the Rossoneris till June 2016, and both manager Massimiliano Allegri and club vice-president Adriano Galliani have reiterated that the player will stay. Speaking to the reporters, Galliani said on Tuesday: “Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva are staying at Milan 99.9 percent.”

Meanwhile, Barca spokesperson Toni Freixa refuted the rumors by neither conforming nor denying the Catalans’ interest in the defender. Speaking to Spanish daily Marca, Freixa said:

Do not take it for granted that our priority is Thiago Silva, who is, however, a great player. The news has come out and I don’t want to discuss the sources, but, in any case, I do not want to either confirm or deny it.
I cannot confirm interest in one player or another, because we’re not at that point yet. We have very clear ideas. We know what our budget is and we do not want anything to change our plans for improving the team.
