Alan Hutton hoping for another stint in La Liga

Former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton is looking for a way out of Villa Park and has expressed his desire to play in the La Liga again. The Scotland international has struggled during his time at Aston Villa and was loaned out to Nottingham Forest on an emergency loan in January.

After the expiration of this Forest loan spell, he was loaned to Spanish side Mallorca until the end of the season.

“I was able to play football and enjoy it – it’s the first time I’ve been able to say that in a while.

“I don’t know how to explain it. I had a few bad years so just to go and enjoy my football again was really good. It’s a lot calmer. I would love to go back.”

The full-back, who has been capped 32 times by Scotland,  had a solid season at Mallorca making 17 appearances but failed to prevent the team from getting relegated.

Hutton still has a year left on his Aston Villa contract and doesn’t want to rush at the moment.

“But obviously I want to move. Another loan deal would not be ideal. It’s not ideal for the family. I would like a permanent deal.

“There’s never been one problem with me and the manager. I’ve had many meetings with him and there is no problem there. I just need to move on and play.”
