Rumour: Alexis Sanchez reportedly turns down Liverpool in favour of Juventus or Arsenal
Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez has reportedly turned down a move to Liverpool and will listen to offers from Italian champions Juventus and Arsenal, according to Spanish media source AS.
Liverpool are in talks with Barcelona over the sale of Luis Suarez, who is set to join the Spanish giants for a club record fee of £75 million, thought to be his release clause. However, Liverpool were reportedly asking for Alexis Sanchez as part of the deal with less money involved to get an automatic replacement for Suarez.
That now looks unlikely to happen as Barcelona and Liverpool are set to go ahead with the £75m deal for Suarez, but the Reds would still like to pursue Sanchez, who could cost in the region of £30-35 million, considerably cheaper than Suarez.
However, the reports in Spain suggest that <Sanchez has turned Liverpool downand will instead listen to offers from Juventus, who won Serie A again last season, and Arsenal who finished fourth in the Premier League, two places below Liverpool.
He has cut short his holiday to return to Barcelona and discuss his future and weigh up his options but reports in England suggest that talks with Liverpool are still ongoing so this saga could drag on a little longer.
Sanchez scored 21 goals in all competitions for Barcelona last season – only Lionel Messi (41) scored more.
