Alisson reveals what he thought of Loris Karius' mistake in last year's Champions League final
What’s the story?
Loris Karius was talk of the town after last year's UEFA Champions League final as he committed two blunders to award Real Madrid the title. Alisson Becker was brought in to replace the German goalkeeper and now the Brazilian has given his views on Karius' performance in Kiev last season. He said he was saddened to see that.
In case you didn’t know...
Alisson Becker was signed from AS Roma as an immediate reaction to Champions League final loss for a staggering fee of £66.8 million. Meanwhile, Loris Karius was loaned out to Besiktas with Simon Mignolet staying back at Anfield to be the second choice keeper.
The heart of the matter
The Brazilian number one, when asked about his take on Kaius' blunders in the finals of UEFA Champions League last season, said:
"I was saddened.
"We know the feeling of making a mistake in a competition as big as the Champions League; it's something that can stick with you for the rest of your career.
"But in life we always have the chance to make it better. I try to stay aware of everything.
"When I do something well, I don't let it get to my head. And when I make a mistake, I don't let it either."
The former AS Roma shot stopper has been like a final piece that was missing in a puzzle. He has been phenomenal in the Premier League despite this being his first season and his exemplary performances are one of the reasons why Liverpool are in the final yet again.
What's next?
Liverpool take on Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League final this weekend in Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano and would hope to be successful this time round. Allison will likely be playing in this year's final, and would certainly want to avoid making similar mistakes.
