EPL 2016/17: Ander Herrera frustrated with Manchester United's recent form in front of goal

Herrera conceded that United have been poor in front of goal

Manchester United’s Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera says he has no idea what his team must do to win a game. The Red Devils took on West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday and could only draw the game 1-1.

Speaking after the game, Ander Herrera said that their performance was up to the mark, but his team were just not lucky enough to get 3 points.

“Another game the same. We control the game completely from the kick-off. They score a very lucky goal and then we control and create chances,” said the Spanish player.

West Ham United goalkeeper, Darren Randolph put in a man of the match performance keeping West Ham in the game until the very end. The Irish goalkeeper made seven incredible saves in the game which helped the Hammers take home a crucial one point.

Herrera was in a despondent mood and credited Randolph’s performance, “Their keeper was the best one more time. That happened against Stoke, Burnley, and Arsenal. We don't know what we have to do to win a game. We have more possession than the opponents. I don't know, honestly.”

The midfielder also stated that United were in control of the game throughout but just couldn't find the net when it was required: “I have had a run like this but not playing good. The way we are playing we are controlling the whole game from the kick-off.

“Football is about scoring goals and finishing and we are not doing that right. It is true,” said Herrera.

On the other hand, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho made things worse for his team after being sent to the stands by referee Jon Moss. The United manager reacted to a yellow card given to Paul Pogba for simulation by kicking a bottle violently.

Last night’s result was the 5th draw of the season for Manchester United in the Premier League having drawn games against Stoke City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Burnley and now West Ham. The 1-1 result with the Hammers also meant that this was the first time since 1980 that United have drawn four League games in a row at Old Trafford.

West Ham scored the first goal of the game through Diafra Sakho but United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic equalised before half-time.

With Sunday’s 1-1 result, Manchester United find themselves 11 points behind table-toppers Chelsea FC, possibly bringing an end to their title ambitions. The Red Devils will once again face West Ham in the EFL quarter-final clash to be held on the 1st December.
