Andres Iniesta snubs Manchester United to pen new deal with Barcelona

Iniesta signs new deal
World Cup winning Spanish international Andres Iniesta has agreed to a new deal with the Blaugrana club. Sensational speculation has been rife for months now suggesting that the World Cup winner could make a switch to the reigning Premier League champions, having initially refused to commit to a new deal with Barcelona.
Reports now suggest that Barcelona has reached an initial agreement with Spanish international Andrés Iniesta to extend his contract with the club. A new deal is imminent now, with only small details and announcing supposedly left. Recently, Barca president, Sandro Rosell and the player both confirmed that negotiations were going according to plan.
The new deal would ensure the Spanish superstar is at Camp Nou, till 2018 when he would be 34 years of age. The length was the biggest stumbling block, with the player wanting to extend his contract for a further five season. The negotiations have dragged longer than initially estimated, but now the player’s wages has been agreed and all that is left to do now is finalize the last details.
Ramon Sostres, Iniesta’s agent and the club have been working tirelessly to tie up loose ends and finalize a deal before Christmas. The catalan club has always counted on Iniesta’s willingness to stay at the club.
The club was always the midfielder’s priority and he has never hidden his intention in remaining with the Catalan giants; although United have retained continued interest in the midfielder. Moyes will now have to turn to other targets in his bid to revamp his midfield with a quality attacking-midfielder. United falls in the long list of midfield targets that the English giants have wanted to sign but have eventually failed. United had failed bids for both Thiago and Cesc Fabregas in the summer, both from Barcelona.
