Anelka joins Juventus on loan

France striker Nicolas Anelka has arrived in Turin for a medical ahead of a reported loan move to reigning Serie A champions Juventus.

The 33-year old will be signed on a five-month rolling contract, and will be a stop-gap measure before Fernando Llorente arrives at the Juventus Stadium in the summer.

“I’m really happy to be here,” Anelka told reporters after arriving in Italy.

Juventus president Beppe Moratta also explained the reason for the move, saying: “It was an emergency situation and we needed some extra firepower up front. We have tied Anelka to a five-month deal.”

Anelka is known to be one of world’s most travelled footballers, and has played for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain among other clubs.

He joined Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua last year, but reportedly was bored with life at the Chinese side, which also boasts of former Chelsea teammate Didier Drogba.
