Argentina legend Maradona: FIFA have “crucified” Liverpool’s Suarez

Luis Suarez has been suspended by FIFA for four month for biting Italian defender Gerogio Chiellini in the on going FIFA World Cup

Diego Maradona has lambasted FIFA over their four-month ban of Luis Suarez, claiming the Uruguayan striker has been “crucified” by football’s governing body.

The Argentine football legend appeared on De Zurda TV show sporting a shirt that branded the message ”Luisito Estamos Con Vos”, meaning, “Luis we are with you”, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Maradona said on the show: “Why? Who is killed? This is football, this is friction.

“Why not send him to Guantanamo?”, he later joked.

Like Suarez, Maradona was also banned from a World Cup when he was infamously hit with a 15-month ban for testing positive for banned substances in 1994.

The Liverpool striker was banned from “all football related activity” by FIFA for his bite on Georgio Chiellini during Uruguay’s 1-0 victory over Italy on Tuesday evening. The ban means Suarez will miss the rest of the World Cup as well as the first 9 games of Liverpool’s Premier League season.
