Arsenal to face Hull City in FA Cup final

Hull City have set up a final encounter against Arsenal in the FA Cup after defeating Sheffield United in their semi final fixture.

Steve Bruce’s side gave an inspirational second half performance as they came back from a 2-1 deficit to win 5-3 against their league one opponents.

Sheffield’s Jose Baxter scored the unexpected opener which was cancelled out by City’s Yannick Sagbo. Stefan Scougall restored the lead by making it 2-1 before half time. But Hull came out in the second half  as a different outfit in terms of class as goals from Matty Fryatt, Tom Huddlestone, Stephen Quinn and David Meyler ensured their final spot which will be the first major cup final in 110 years.

“We are absolutely delighted. We needed one hell of a turn-around but the one thing you can’t do with this team is write them off,” said Hull manager Bruce.

“There are always going to be nerves and it is how you handle it. We certainly found it difficult in the first half, but we won OK in the end.”

Their opponents, the Gunners, had a hard passage to the finals as they edged off last year winners Wigan Athletic in a penalty shoot out. The sides who were tied at 1-1 could not be separated even after extra time and Arsenal edged it thanks to Fabianski’s superb display in Goal.

The Gunners have a chance to break their nine year trophy drought when they take on Hull City in the final scheduled for May 17, 2014 at Wembley.
