Arsenal in pursuit of Aston Villa youngster?

There are reports linking Arsenal with Aston Villa youngster Andreas Wiemann. However, the Birmingham-based side are keen to secure the services of 21-year-old; but as of now, they have yet to reach an agreement and the Austrian International will be left with only one year on his current contract at the end of season this summer. Aston Villa are set to have quite a few offers on their table in the transfer window to acquire the services of new Villa prodigy.

Arsene Wenger already had a taste of what the young Austrian attacker can do, with a splendid eye-catching performance which included a spectacular long range goal at Emirates stadium earlier in the month.

Weimann has come through the ranks of Midlands side, joining them back in 2007 as a 16 year old; he was handed out his debut with Villa in August 2010 with club going through turbulent times, which shows his mental toughness – a quality which might attract Wenger.

Though Arsenal have a quite a few talents coming through the youth system, Arsene Wenger still lacks options upfront at present, relying on Walcott and Olivier Giroud as strikers, while preferring Lukas Podolski and Gervinho in wide attacking roles.

Weimann certainly can adapt to both the roles – striker or winger – and could be seen as a player up to add value to the Gunners attacking options.
