Arsenal's Mesut Ozil sends emotional message to fans after FA Cup win over Everton
Mesut Ozil bore the face of relieved man as he put his recent troubles behind him with a goal against Everton, as Arsenal progressed to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Ozil has been on the wrong end of a stream of criticism from both fans and the media of late, after a string of poor performances culminated in his crucial penalty miss during the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, while he was also jeered by fans in Germany’s 1-0 victory over Chile on Wednesday.
After two games removed of the starting eleven, however, the German international bounced back with a bang, as he netted the opening goal in Arsenal’s 4-1 FA Cup quarter final victory over the Toffees.
The Gunners midfielder appeared a far happier figure having looked uninterested and disconsolate in recent fixtures, but his strike brought about a relieved expression and hinted at a return to the happier, influential figure that adapted to life in the Premier League with apparent ease.
He captioned this picture he left over social networks, “It’s not over when you lose a game, it’s only over when you lose hope and faith. Thanks all for the support.”
Mesut Ozil has created 63 chances for Arsenal this season in the Premier League. Only Eden Hazard, Luis Suarez and David Silva have created more this season.
