Arsenal midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil could return for FA Cup semi-final

Arsenal’s injury problems could be abating, with reports suggesting that Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny could all be returning to the side imminently.

Despite a raft of injury problems and a string of aborted returns, Ramsey is still reportedly hopeful of featuring at Wembley next weekend in Arsenal’s FA Cup semi final with Wigan Athletic, while Ozil is likely to return shortly after.

The Mirror believe that Welsh midfielder Ramsey, who has not featured in 2014, could be close to fitness and is targeting the cup clash as his return fixture.

Ramsey is said to be almost ready to resume training and will start full training at the end of this week. Such a return date will prove too early to feature in Arsenal’s crunch match with Everton at Goodison Park this weekend, with Ramsey restricted to a watching brief for the game which could prove crucial in the Gunners’ attempts to fend off Everton in the race for the top four.

However, Ramsey could play some part in the semi-final next weekend, if reports are to be believed. While Arsenal will be mindful of rushing back the Welshman, who has already had two setbacks in his return from a knee injury sustained at West Ham shortly before the new year, his return could prove a welcome boost for a team who have seen their trophy hopes gradually start to evaporate.

Former Cardiff City midfielder Ramsey started the season in fine form, with eight goals in his 18 league appearances. The 23 year-old’s reward for his impressive displays came in the form of a new contract, but he has yet to play a single game since penning the deal.

Fellow midfielder Ozil has missed the past four games, having scored four goals and provided eight assists in the Premier League since his £42 million transfer from Real Madrid.

Arsenal take on Wigan – last season’s FA Cup winners – next weekend aiming to secure passage to their first FA Cup final since winning the competition in 2005.

Despite his spate of injuries, Ramsey has still made more tackles than any other Arsenal player in this season’s Premier League.
