Arsenal ready to relinquish move for Suarez?

Suarez still interesting Arsenal?

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has declared that he will not attempt to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez in the summer transfer window, reports Goal.com. The Gunners were heavily linked with a move for the Liverpool man last summer.

The North Londoners failed to recruit the unsettled Uruguayan last year as the forward actively attempted to engineer away from Merseyside, but Arsenal’s bid was rejected.

However, despite Suarez signing a new long term deal, speculation over his future persists, as it may depend on whether The Reds can claim a Champions League place.

But Wenger is adamant he will not resurrect his efforts to sign the front man, preferring to focus on Saturday’s clash with Brendan Rodgers’ side, as all three points would give The Gunners’ a huge boost ahead of a gruelling fixture list in February.

“It didn’t come off and that’s it. He was never our player. Liverpool are in a better position than when we last played them. They have momentum.

“Saturday is a good moment for us to win a big game because we have a big month ahead. We had some good wins at Anfield. I have a lot of respect for the fans there, they know their football,” he declared.

Wenger is wary of Liverpool’s attacking threat, as they sit just eight points behind Arsenal and anything less than a win would relinquish their grip on first place.

“I think they are strong offensively with Sturridge, Suarez, Coutinho, Sterling and Gerrard. We need to dominate the game in order to keep Suarez and Sturridge quiet. We must control possession,” the Frenchman insisted.
