Arsenal: Positives and negatives from Southampton game
Arsenal came back into winning ways with an easy victory over a good Southampton side. French striker Olivier Giroud scored both the goals for the gunners. Now, Arsenal are four points clear at the top ahead of second placed Liverpool.
Let’s have a look at few positives and negatives that Arsenal can take from the game, Positives
- Olivier Giroud back to scoring form. With these goals, he has reached double figure this season. The French international was at this usual best yesterday, holding up the ball, pressurizing the defenders and bringing in his team mates into action with his play making skills. He has definitely added a new dimension to this Arsenal attack.
- Defence looks solid. Looks like the glory days of Dixon, Adams, Bould and Winterburn are back again. Mertesacker – I have no words to say about BFG. What a solid defender he has become now, easily one the best in the league at the moment. Koscielny, as hard tackling and tenacious as ever. Sagna and Gibbs had a good game too.
- Theo Walcott is back. Wenger should be a very relieved man now with the speedy winger recovered fully from a stomach injury. Walcott came in as a sub and did a decent job.
Negatives Cazorla – Spainard showed flashes of brilliance of what he do best but he is still far way from the form that he had shown last season. May be he is still getting back to his full fitness after the injury that he suffered earlier in the season. He was subbed in the second half. Arteta had a poor first half but recovered well in the second part. Other than that Arsenal had a perfect game with everything going as per the plan.
