Arsenal target Schneiderlin holds talks with Southampton boss Koeman over his future

Schneiderlin played once at the World Cup, completing 93% of his passes.

Southampton star midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has held talks with manager Ronald Koeman over his future at the club following more links to Arsenal this summer.

Schneiderlin, 24, has constantly been linked with a move to Arsenal over the past 12 months and that transfer could happen this month with the Gunners in search of a new central midfielder and Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the Frenchman.

The midfielder had another successful season with the Saints as they finished in top half of the Premier League but with Mauricio Pochettino leading the exodus out of the door, Schneiderlin could soon follow suit.

Adam Lallana – the club captain, Rickie Lambert and Luke Shaw have all already left with Dejan Lovren undoubtedly next out of the door so Schneiderlin could be forgiven for wanting to leave.

He has confirmed that he has held talks with Koeman, who replaced Pochettino earlier this summer, who stated his desire to keep the Frenchman at the south coast club.

“Yes he [Koeman] called me about a week ago, but what was said will stay between us,” Schneiderlin said.

“He wants me to stay and we’ll see. I don’t know yet. I still have three years’ contract at Southampton. Nothing has happened, I am going to relax and go on holiday and we will see.”
