Arsenal targeting reinforcements in 2 key positions ahead of the summer transfer window: Reports

Arsenal are targeting signing a striker and winger in the upcoming summer transfer window as they look to prepare for the next season. Newcastle United's Alexander Isak and Crystal Palace's Michael Olise have emerged as top targets on those lists.

This is as per reports from The Guardian, which add that Newcastle will have to offload one of their bigger names in order to balance their books for Financial Fair Play (FFP). The Swede joined the Magpies in 2022 for a fee in the region of £63 million, and could be on the move for a similar figure. He is seen by the Gunners as the perfect striker for their team.

Palace's Michael Olise just recently signed a new four-year contract extension with the club. However, his performances have caught the eye of Arsenal's scouts and the north Londoners could be tempted to make a move. Olise reportedly has a release clause in the region of £65 million which will be activated in the upcoming transfer window.

Signing Isak and Olise could solve two of Arsenal's major issues regarding squad depth. For starters, they lack an out-and-out striker and adding Alexander Isak to the mix might just be the answer. He is adept at scoring with both feet and can also drop deep to help link-up play.

Olise, on the other hand, can play on either flank and could provide the perfect compeititon for Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka. Considering Saka starts nearly every game, bringing in a quality winger will help decrease his workload.

Real Madrid studied Arsenal's defence to defeat Man City in the UCL

Real Madrid knocked Manchester City out of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after a 4-4 aggregate draw, which Los Blancos decided with a 4-3 win on penalties.

Following the match, reports from Spanish outlet Marca claim that Los Blancos studied Arsenal's defence against City at the Etihad in preparation for their game.

The Gunners have done extremely well against Manchester City in the league this season. They secured a 1-0 win at the Emirates Stadium, courtesy of a late winner by Gabriel Martinelli. Mikel Arteta's men kept another clean sheet against City at the Etihad Stadium in their goalless draw in March.

Arsenal (71 pts) now find themselves two points off Manchester City (73 pts) in second place after 32 games.
