Spanish publication AS has reported that Arsenal have shown an interest in signing Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez.
The Spanish midfielder is an integral member of Diego Simeone's outfit and is considered as one of the best in his position.
His work rate, his passing and his end product can improve Arsenal and his overall package has attracted the Gunners towards him.
AS can also reveal that Arsenal are pretty serious about taking Saul on board and the midfielder can be said as their No.1 summer target.
Saul has a contract with Atletico until 2026 and has a release clause of €150 million. Arsenal are ready to break the bank for the Atletico Madrid midfielder in order to compete with their Premier League rivals financially and also have a chance of getting back into the title race.
Everton confident of signing Jack Wilshere
Jack Wilshere's contract talks have reportedly reached an impasse. Wilshere has an offer on the table from Arsenal but the midfielder is not ready to accept a cut in his wages. The contract renewal of Mesut Ozil has further incensed Wilshere over declining such a deal.
Meanwhile, Wilshere's current contractual standoff has given Everton confidence of signing him on a free transfer in the summer.
Daily Star reports that the Toffees are keen on signing the combative midfielder and plan on revolving their team around him.
Everton are also ready to offer Wilshere a sizeable signing-on fee and are willing to match Wilshere's wage demands.
Arsene Wenger planning to stay as manager beyond this season
Contrary to popular reports, Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking to stay on as Arsenal manager beyond the end of this season even if he does not win the Europa League.
Arsenal are scheduled to have a review of their season as Wenger completes first of his two-year contract.
But Evening Standard understands that Wenger is adamant that he is the perfect man for the job and has already started work on identifying summer transfer targets.
Wenger is reportedly eyeing a midfield and defensive overhaul at the club.
