Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger tracking young Torino defender
With Arsenal going for the Pre-season tour the rumors surrounding the club have not subsided .Gunners who are looking for some defensive reinforcement have been linked with an unknown quantity once again .Arsene Wenger is reported to be tracking Turin based club Torino’s young Centre Back Angelo Ogbonna.
According to reports from Italy the defender who was an Arsenal target two years back too has been seen as an adept addition to the squad .The player who’s natural position is centre back but is also thought to be equally effective playing as left back. This may seem like a match made in heaven particularly after the current events i.e. Arsenal selling their first team left back Gael Clichy . But as per Wenger himself he is looking to promote Gibbs rather than fill the position with a new signing, so this angle of the story seems irrelevant.
Ogbonna ,23 has been at Torino for four years and has even enjoyed international football with the Italian u-21 squad . The player well above 6 feet is known for his physicality and strength plus the fact that he is a ball playing defender just makes him more suitable for Arsenal brand of football.
The player has leadership qualities too with the Seria B side making him their Vice Captain at such a small age. The player as is expected is rated very highly by his club thus anything less than in the range of 14-15 million Euros won’t be deemed fit for his signature. This may be a possible deal breaker but if the rumors are dependable this may be another case of Wenger’s unearthing a diamond from the rough.
