Arsenal weekly roundup

Arsenal started the week with a 1-1 draw away to West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns. The Gunners head into the international break with a well-earned point and as the players scatter across the world to play for their respective international sides the management and support can look forward to a return to fitness for some key players.

International Roundup

13 Arsenal players played for their international teams over the weekend with Nicklas Bendtner scoring twice for Denmark in their 2-2 draw with Italy.

Mesut Ozil scored on his 50th appearance for Germany in their 3-0 win over the Republic of Ireland, Per Mertersacker also played the full 90 minutes.

Oliver Giroud scored twice in France’s 6-0 thrashing over Australia in Paris, Laurent Koscielny also featured.

Jack Wilshere came on to play the last 10 minutes in England’s 4-1 win over Montenegro, Kieran Gibbs was an unused sub for the three lions.

Thomas Vermaelen was also an unused sub, watching from the bench as his Belgium side beat Croatia 2-1 in Zagreb.

Carl Jenkinson played 90 minutes for England’s U21′s at left back as they beat San Marino 4-0.

Wojciech Szczesney and Lukas Fabianski were both unused subs as Poland’s chances of reaching the World Cup were put to bed after a 1-0 loss to Ukraine.

Aaron Ramsey was man of the match in Wales 1-0 win over Macedonia in Cardiff despite missing a late second half penalty.

Full back Nacho Monreal played 45 minutes as Spain beat Belarus 2-1.

Transfer Rumours

With money for Arsène Wenger to spend in January rumours have emerged that the Gunners are looking at Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan and Juventus’ Spanish forward Fernando Llorente.

Arsenal’s U21′s beat Wolverhampton U21′s 2-1 at the Emirates with Ryo Miyaichi putting Arsenal into the lead on 19 minutes. Wolves equalised through Tim Jakobsson but the Gunners went back in front when, 17 minutes from time, Austin Lipman secured the Gunners win.

Arsenal Ladies Reserves started the week with a 7-1 win over Oxford Ladies reserves.

Arsenal Ladies thrashed WFC SSHVSM Kairat 7-1 away in the Women’s Champions league.
