Arsenal's dilemma: Luis Suarez or Wayne Rooney?

Suarez is a top target for Wenger

We’re back in action Arsenal fans. With a splendid goals-a-plenty pre-season thus far, Arsène Wenger will look for his youngsters and established guard to continue piling in the goals. Let’s just hope they save a few for the Premier League season ahead.

As the Gunners appeared in Japan, the Daily Mail reports that Asian fans that had the luxury of meeting Arsenal stars during this pre-season tour were charged to do so.

An Arsenal spokesman told Sportsmail: “We only found out about it afterwards and it is completely unacceptable. We are sorry to our supporters who were asked to pay and will ensure they are refunded.”

According to Sky Sports, Bacary Sagna wants to remain with Arsenal for an extended period of time as he told the media: “I enjoy playing for Arsenal. I love my team, and I always give my best. I’m still here. Many people were talking about me going back to France but I’m still here and I’m looking forward to a big season with Arsenal.”

And within his statements lies his frustration. Last season, with one year remaining on his contract, widespread confusion circulated around the Frenchman whether or not he’d remain a Gunner but he looks set to stay at Arsenal for at least one more year.

How much longer are we going to hear “Arsenal are set to break the bank this summer?”. With Higuain joining Napoli, it seems Arsenal have turned all of their attention to Luis Suarez but will Wenger break the bank for the Uruguayan?

The Sun reports that Arsenal will unleash another massive bid for Suarez this week. However, as Rodgers seem to value Suarez at the same price as Edinson Cavani, the price for the suspension prone frontman may be beyond Arsenal’s reach.

Whether or not Arsenal can make a decisive bid for the Liverpool striker remains to be seen but, in my opinion Suarez is not worth £55m. Without question he is one of the top strikers in Europe and certainly adds significantly to whichever club he plays for, but the numerous suspensions do not sit well with me at that price.

Then again, goals, goals and more goals are a huge part of the winning equation – and Suarez can without question bring goals.
